Structural assessment and temporary support
- Install temporary supports (lally columns, adjustable steel shores) if wall is load‑bearing.
- Engineer provides beam sizing and connection details for new header or beam.
- Demolish drywall, studs, and finishes; remove wall framing and debris.
- Carefully expose and cap/terminate electrical, plumbing, HVAC concealed in wall.
- Dispose of materials per local regulations; recycle where possible.Rough structural installation
Remove temporary supports once permanent structure is verified.
- Re‑route or extend electrical circuits, switches, and lighting for new layout and island.
- Relocate or cap plumbing for island sink/dishwasher or reroute at new locations.
- Modify HVAC ducts/returns and add ventilation for range hood location; ensure code compliance.
- Schedule and pass required inspections for structural, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC rough work.
- Correct any deficiencies noted by inspectors before proceeding.
Cabinetry, countertops, and appliance installation
- Install base cabinets and island cabinets; secure to floor and structure.
- Install countertops, sink, plumbing fixtures, backsplash, and appliances.
- Connect utilities: electrical hookups, gas lines, water supply, and drain for fixtures.
Final trim, painting, cleanup, and handover
- Install trim, toe kicks, hardware, lighting fixtures, and finalize paint touchups.
- Test all systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC), ensure hood venting and appliance operation.
- Final inspection/occupancy sign‑off if required; clean site and provide owner documentation/warranties and maintenance tips.
